Madonna's Pulmonary Program is primarily located on the Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) although a significant number of people with pulmonary conditions are also served in the Ventilator Assistance Unit (VAU).
Some patients with a brain injury or spinal cord injury are also served by the Pulmonary Program, as many of those individuals are admitted with tracheostomy tubes or on ventilators, and spend the first part of their program weaning.
Ages: The average age of Pulmonary patients is 71 years old.
Geographic Area: A majority of patients served are referred from Lincoln hospitals, and live within the state. Madonna also served 23 individuals from 6 different states, with most out of state admissions coming from Iowa and Kansas.
Volumes: During its most recent fiscal year ending June 30, 2009, Madonna served a total of 188 inpatients on LTACH with pulmonary diagnoses, including 105 patients who were ventilator dependent.
