Patient Outreach
Offering Hope and Joy
San José Clinic sponsors several activities throughout the year to assist patients.
These include:
Children's Easter Party
Back to School Festival
Adopt a family program
Children's Christmas Party
Seniors' Christmas Party
Back to School Festival
The Back to School Festival helps supply
pre-kindergarten to 6th grade children from San José Clinic families with necessary school-related materials, including school clothing and class supplies. Generous donations from individuals, corporations and community groups support this program. The Back to School Festival is held each August.
Give Kids a Smile Day
Give Kids a Smile Day is an annual event spotlighting National Children's Dental Health Month. The event focuses on providing oral health education, as well as preventative and restorative care to all children despite economic status. San José Clinic collaborates with the Greater Houston Dental Society and The University of Texas Dental Branch to provide this service held at the Dental School.
Sealants Across Texas
Sealants Across Texas occurs twice a year. Through this program, San José Clinic works with the Greater Houston Hygienists' Society to provide sealants to children ages five to 18 years. Statewide, the Texas Dental Hygienists' Association (TDHA) is dedicated to delivering quality dental hygiene services to the citizens of Texas. Each year, licensed, registered dental hygienists from across the state volunteer to provide dental sealants to children in under-served populations.
Adopt a Family program
Each year, San José Clinic works with individuals and groups that wish to adopt Clinic families for the holidays. Through the Adopt a Family program, families receive food and gifts specially chosen for each family member.
Children's Christmas Party
This oldest patient program began in the Clinic's early years and has become a Christmas tradition for Clinic patients and staff. The Children's Christmas party is for young San José Clinic patients, from birth to 12 years, who are anticipating Christmas but whose parents may not have the means to provide them with gifts. Those who are invited to the party are among the neediest families of the Clinic.
Children and their parents who attend the event enjoy musical entertainment, games and party treats before receiving gifts from Santa Claus and his volunteer elves. They experience a fun and special day at the Clinic and leave with a keepsake family picture with Santa and hope for a memorable Christmas. The Clinic receives support from many individuals, companies and community groups that sponsor gift drives and volunteer on the day of the party.
Seniors' Christmas Party
A catered luncheon is held for the Clinic's senior patients who also receive baskets full of needed items to make their Christmas season more meaningful. They also enjoy the company of one another and musical entertainment provided by volunteers and talented San José Clinic staff.
